Welcome to the website for Queen Mary Avenue Infant and Nursery School

On behalf of the children, staff and governors I wish you a very warm welcome.

If you are to visit our school you will find that the children at Queen Mary Avenue Infant and Nursery School are full of life, happy, enthusiastic and keen to learn.

Our school has a strong feel of inclusivity and shared belief that, with the right support, every child can succeed. Our caring and talented team work hard to nurture and develop the learning behaviours that our children will need to take them through life. Therefore a big focus is placed on a positive self-esteem, self-confidence to ‘have a go!’ and resilience to ‘keep trying!’

Our children learn through a range of exciting themes which are enriched by visitors to our school and visits to many places of interest. Learning is enhanced further by the opportunity to take part in our wide range of school clubs. We are particularly proud to be a ‘forest school’.

We are very fortunate that many of our staff give generously of their time to ensure that our children have access to as many experiences as possible. As a result we are involved in a variety of sporting competitions competing against other schools in the area. Science is also very important to our school and we run a very popular Science Club. There is something for everyone!

At Queen Mary Avenue Infant and Nursery School, we work closely with our families and the wider community to give our children the very best support possible. We have an open door policy and our parents and carers are readily invited into school to be a part of our learning, events and celebrations.

As you walk around our school you will see that we are on a continual journey of improvement. This is evident in our learning environment, practice and as you see our children work & play. We strive for success for all, both academically and in educating & nurturing our children to grow into responsible global citizens.

Thank you for visiting our website, I hope that you will find what you are looking for. However, please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like some further information or to arrange a visit.

Gymnastics Competition!

On Friday the 23rd of March 2018

We took part in a gymnastics competition. The judges praised us for on our ability to balance and jump with good control.  We had great fun and got to show off what we have been learning in gymnastics club. Other teachers commented on our good behaviour. At the end of the competition we saw a fantastic floor routine from gymnasts who compete nationally. We loved our day with Twist and Flip.

A Visit from Anna and Elsa!

In Nursery as part of our Artic Adventure we have been learning about Frozen.

We had a super visit from Anna and Elsa. We loved singing along to Frozen songs and meeting the characters.

We danced and took part in a Frozen colouring competition! We loved it!

Thank you so much Anna and Elsa we loved seeing you, you made our day special.

Y2 Kite Flying!

In Year 2 we made kites to rescue Dorothy from the Land of Oz. She went to ask the Wizard for help but he left in the hot balloon without her so we designed our kites to help her get back home to Kansas.

We had to design a kite that was;

Colourful

The correct shape

Could fly

We tested our kites out on the playground and they all flew!
